Dear Madge,
Thank you very much for your norway letter which we received in lus..?? switserland last week. Lovely to hear from you. So sorry to hear of Jude's loss. We began our 15 day English tour yesterday and are in Plymouth tonight. Steeped in history, heavily bombed in the war, it's a very busy and modern port today but still featuring all the stone fortresses of centuries ago. We had an hours boat trip up the tamer river and plymouth Port. The weather is a little cooler but still warm. We enjoyed the European trip but were glad to get back to England yesterday, on our way we visited Winchester Cathederal, one of the loveliest I've seen anywhere. A plaque on the wall stated Samuel Sebastian Wesley was an organist there from 1849-1864- he wrote "Lead Me Lord" & other anthems we sing - I think we've been driving through Sommersit Dorset & Devon & now Cornwell - rain still needed. Saw Stone Henge yesterday. Well Madge, love to all - see you in 3 weeks time - Val & Bob. T
